The Longevity Stack: NAD+, MOTS-c and Epitalon, Explained

  1. NAD+ — the one with a live product
  2. MOTS-c — the mitochondrial peptide, gated
  3. Epitalon — the education-only one
  4. The honest context

  6. The bottom line

Short answer: The classic longevity trio is NAD+ (the cellular-energy coenzyme), MOTS-c (a mitochondrial-derived peptide studied for metabolic signaling) and Epitalon (a pineal peptide from longevity research). NAD+ and MOTS-c both have live strip products, and Epitalon remains an education-only topic here.

"Longevity stack" is one of the most searched phrases in the peptide category, and the interest is well placed — the underlying science of cellular energy and aging is real and moving fast. What follows explains each compound at the mechanism level, what the research has actually examined, and which ones you can buy versus read about. For the bigger picture, see our peptide stacks hub.

NAD+ — the one with a live product

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every cell, involved in energy metabolism and normal cellular maintenance. Its levels are known to decline with age — a published observation — which is why NAD+ sits at the center of the healthy-aging conversation.

The delivery problem defines the format: intact NAD+ is ~663 daltons, charged, and does not survive the gut. That's exactly what makes the sublingual route interesting. The most-cited direct-route evidence comes from iX Biopharma: a rat pharmacokinetic study reporting a roughly 2-fold plasma NAD+ peak within 10 minutes of sublingual dosing, plus a nine-person, open-label, uncontrolled, company-sponsored human pilot reporting average whole-blood NAD+ increases of +59% at two weeks and +76% at six weeks [preclinical evidence + unpublished company pilot — not peer reviewed]. Early signal, genuinely promising, not settled science.

Product reality: the NAD+ Energy strips are the live SKU — $118 per 30-strip box. For many longevity-curious buyers, this is the practical entry point to the whole stack.

MOTS-c — the mitochondrial peptide, gated

MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA — part of how cells signal about energy demand, stress, and recovery. Research has examined it in connection with AMPK-related metabolic signaling and the cell's stress-adaptation pathways [preclinical evidence], which is why it shows up in every serious healthy-aging discussion. Think of it as the stack's metabolic-flexibility layer: mechanism-level science with an active research following.

Two transparency notes:

  • Regulatory momentum: in July 2026, the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted 7–5 to recommend MOTS-c for the 503A Bulks List — advisory and non-binding, but a sign the compound is being formally re-examined, with any rulemaking realistically landing mid-to-late 2027 [verified regulatory record].
  • Product status: MOTS-c exists in the InstaMed line as BOOST, available at open checkout. See the BOOST MOTS-c page for the current panel and price. For deeper background, the MOTS-c pillar and MOTS-c sublingual explainer cover the format science.

Epitalon — the education-only one

Epitalon (also written epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on a pineal-gland peptide, and it circulates heavily in longevity folklore — especially around telomeres. The honest summary: the telomere claims trace to a small number of older, largely non-Western studies, and there is no robust modern human trial base. Epitalon is studied, discussed, and unproven.

PCAC also recommended Epitalon for the 503A list in July 2026 [verified regulatory record] — but compounding-list momentum is not a retail product. There is no Epitalon SKU anywhere in the catalog we carry, and we won't pretend otherwise. If a page sells you an "Epitalon strip," ask who made it and where the testing is.

The honest context

Here's the passage that doesn't help us sell: if your standard is "strongest human evidence first," the most-evidenced NAD+-raising strategy in published human trials is actually oral precursors — NMN and NR, studied at 250–900 mg/day ranges, with a January 2026 head-to-head (Christen et al., Nature Metabolism) finding both roughly doubled blood NAD+ at 1,000 mg/day [published human data]. No NMN or NR SKU exists in the line we carry; see NAD+ vs precursors for that comparison. And no compound on this page — alone or stacked — has been shown to extend lifespan or produce a defined health outcome in healthy adults. What the strip format genuinely offers is the direct-molecule route for people who choose it knowingly, plus real convenience.

Who this stack is for

People in their 40s, 50s and beyond who think about aging the way athletes think about training — inputs, consistency, recovery. The typical longevity-stack reader is already doing the fundamentals and looking for the next layer. NAD+ strips fit that profile cleanly: one known molecule, a live product, a needle-free format that takes seconds a day. MOTS-c and Epitalon are for the reader who wants to follow the science as it develops — and to know exactly where the access gates sit.

The bottom line

The longevity stack's reputation is mostly earned: NAD+ biology is real, MOTS-c is one of the most interesting mitochondrial peptides under study, and even Epitalon's inclusion tells you the stack was built by people paying attention to the research frontier. The availability ladder is equally real — one live product, one gated, one education-only — and now you know exactly which is which. Start with what's actually available, keep the fundamentals doing the heavy lifting, and let the science catch up at its own pace.

Questions

longevity peptide stack — quick answers

What is in the classic longevity stack?

Usually three compounds: NAD+ (cellular-energy coenzyme), MOTS-c (a mitochondrial-derived peptide studied for metabolic signaling), and Epitalon (a pineal-derived tetrapeptide with thin human evidence). Availability differs: NAD+ has a live strip at $118 per 30-strip box, MOTS-c ships as the BOOST strip, and Epitalon has no retail strip product.

Is there proof the longevity stack works?

Not if "works" means a defined health outcome in healthy adults — no study shows the stack extends lifespan or reverses aging. The components have mechanism-level research of varying depth, and the NAD+ piece has genuine early delivery science behind the sublingual route.

Where does MOTS-c ship as a strip?

BOOST (the MOTS-c strip) is available at open checkout like the rest of the line.

Can I buy an Epitalon strip?

Not from any established catalog we know of — Epitalon is education-only here. PCAC recommended it for the 503A compounding list in July 2026, but that process is advisory and any rulemaking is realistically a 2027 event.
