Does Sublingual Ipamorelin Work?

Short answer: Ipamorelin earned its reputation in the lab as the selective one: the growth-hormone secretagogue that did its job without dragging cortisol and other hormones along [preclinical evidence]. That selectivity made it the default partner in the most popular GH-support pairing — and the strip's own human PK data is still catching up.

This is the strip-format question, asked plainly. Ipamorelin has a genuinely interesting research story — let's tell it properly, then look at what the format change means. Compound background lives in the CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin pillar.

The molecule with the clean reputation

Ipamorelin is a five-amino-acid peptide developed at Novo Nordisk in the 1990s (internal designation NNC 26-0161), working through GHS-R1a — the ghrelin receptor — to prompt growth-hormone release.

Its defining moment came in the 1998 characterization study (Raun et al., European Journal of Endocrinology, PMID 9849822) [preclinical evidence]. In rat pituitary cells, anaesthetised rats, and conscious swine, ipamorelin released GH with potency comparable to the older secretagogue GHRP-6. But here's what made it famous: it did not significantly release ACTH or cortisol even at doses more than 200-fold its GH-release ED50, and it left FSH, LH, prolactin, and TSH untouched. The older compounds spilled those hormones; ipamorelin didn't. The researchers called it the first GHRP-receptor agonist with selectivity for GH release comparable to GHRH itself.

That's a study finding, not a product guarantee — but it's exactly why ipamorelin became the go-to partner peptide: the GH-axis signal people want, without the hormonal spillover that made earlier secretagogues messy.

Why the pairing works so well

Ipamorelin prompts GH release through the ghrelin receptor; CJC-1295 works the same axis through GHRH signaling. Two different doors into the same pathway — which is why the pair shows up together everywhere, and why the InstaMed Strength strip combines them in one needle-free format [brand claim — unverified]. For the companion piece on the larger half of the pair, see does sublingual CJC-1295 work.

The format appeal is straightforward: a pre-measured strip that fits a bedtime or pre-workout routine, no syringes, no mixing, no fridge math. The brand's label cadence reads "5 days per week before bed or before workout on an empty stomach. 2 days off. 12 week cycle is optimal." [brand claim — unverified] — that's the brand's printed label language, reported as such, not our recommendation.

The honest context, stated once

Now the paragraph that doesn't help us sell the strip, printed once because you asked the direct question. Ipamorelin's most flattering finding — the selectivity — comes from animal and cell work three decades old. Its human data is early-phase and injectable-only [published human data — injectable form only]; the development program was discontinued, and there are no published human outcome trials in its common use context. For the sublingual route specifically, no published human pharmacokinetic study exists — absorption of the strip format is unmeasured. And while a pentapeptide is far smaller than CJC-1295's 29-amino-acid chain, it still sits above the ~500-Da zone where oral-mucosal absorption is most straightforward (see why molecular weight decides sublingual delivery). The physics problem is smaller, not zero. Safety questions for both halves of the pair are covered in ipamorelin side effects.

What the evidence shows — and what it doesn't

Established: ipamorelin is a pentapeptide with a well-characterized selectivity profile in preclinical models — GH release without ACTH, cortisol, FSH, LH, prolactin, or TSH spillover; its human data is early-phase and injectable; it's sold only inside the combo panel.

Not established: that strip-format ipamorelin is absorbed meaningfully in humans; that the studied selectivity transfers to the strip; that any injectable finding applies across routes.

Where it exists as a strip

There's no standalone ipamorelin strip in the line we carry. It comes paired with CJC-1295 in the Strength blend — openly stocked at $145 per 20-strip box on the Strength page.

The bottom line

Ipamorelin is the peptide with the clean résumé — the selective secretagogue Novo Nordisk characterized and the GH community adopted. The strip format is the version that fits a real life: needle-free, pre-measured, paired with CJC-1295 the way the community already uses it. Go in knowing the human evidence is early-phase and injectable, the strip's own PK hasn't been measured, and calibrated expectations are part of the deal. If the format is what you've been waiting for, the product page is the next step.

Questions

sublingual ipamorelin — quick answers

Is sublingual ipamorelin absorbed?

Unknown — no published human pharmacokinetic study has measured it. As a pentapeptide it's smaller than CJC-1295 but still above the ~500-Da friendly zone, so "unmeasured" is the only honest grade.

What makes ipamorelin different from other secretagogues?

In the 1998 Novo Nordisk characterization study, it released GH in rats and conscious swine without significantly raising ACTH or cortisol even at doses over 200× its GH-release ED50, and without FSH, LH, prolactin, or TSH spillover — the selectivity that made its research reputation [preclinical evidence]. That's a study finding, not a product guarantee.

Can I buy ipamorelin alone as a strip?

Not in the line we carry. It exists only inside the Strength combo with CJC-1295 — openly stocked at $145 per box.

Is the strip as effective as ipamorelin injections?

There's no basis for that claim. All of ipamorelin's clinical heritage is injectable; the strip format is unstudied in humans.
